PACK RATS
My family is a family of pack-rats. I have unfortunately inherited my pack-rat ways from my parents, just as my siblings have. We have in our house boxes and boxes of old bills, receipts, and other paperwork stacked in the basement and in the living room. Some of the old bills and mailings have never even been open, but for some reason my parents cannot stand the thought of throwing any of them away. “It might be something important” they claim. But as far as I can see, if it’s been 3 years since you’ve gotten that unopened bill, I doubt opening it now will make much difference. Therefore, it’s a pretty safe bet for me to say that our home computer is just as crammed with unnecessary old junk as our house is. Our computer’s data storage bank has to be cleaned out on almost a weekly basis now. I suppose it could be worse: I suppose it would be much worse if we had to clean our hard drive out on a daily basis. I’m pretty sure that unless someone goes through the hard drive and gets rid of the un-needed files, the daily cleaning will very soon become necessary.
