CHEATERS NEVER PROSPER
I’m a fool. I tried to beat the system and failed miserably, now God knows what kind of trouble I’m in for. In hindsight I probably should have consulted a professional, someone who knows a thing or two about bankruptcy laws, but I thought the whole procedure would be pretty cut and dry. It seemed simple – I was in too much debt, way too much debt, but I wasn’t entirely ready to part with all of my worldly possessions to make it right. So I signed over the title to my car and the deed to my hunting cabin in the Pocono’s to my brother-in-law, with the agreement that he could make full use of both while I was in the process of fixing my financial woes. I was stupid to think that I could get away with this without getting caught; I have never gotten away with anything. So to make a very long and painful story short, instead of going by the book and successfully having my debts cleared – my application for bankruptcy was denied and now I may very well be facing fraud charges. I suppose that in most cases the old adage about cheaters never prospering is still true.
